How very true. I'm listening to him now, with a birthday bash of Lester Young, and Charlie Parker. The coolest.
Phil Schaap talks about 1,000 more than he should or needs to on the air. He drones on and on. His deadly on-air personality sucks all the joy out of the wonderful music he plays.
When Phil Schaap talks he says something worthwhile. He conveys a tremendous amount of information about the music, it's history, the times in which it was written. When you learn these things about the music you gain a deeper insight and appreciation for what you are listening to. To those who think Phil Schaap talks too much I would recommend to try listening to what he was to say.
So I'm not the only one who thinks Phil Schaap sucks the joy out of the music he plays with his interminable unbearable droning miles of 80-year-old trivia. I'm glad somebody has done the research, but Schaap should write a book so that those few of us who are interested in the vital statistics of the triangle-player can look it up.
he really talks too much,, how the hell does he get away with it?,, the music is so fantastic,, should be 10 percent talk,, 90 music,, feels like its the other way around,, please phil,, shut up, and let the music fly..
