Notes and Tones/Arthur Taylor

Since I am on the subject of books...I am going to take the risk (see post below)--- and recommend one. Arthur Taylor's Notes & Tones. This dude's no slouch...he played (drums) with almost all the greats---Sonny Rollins, Bud Powell, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane (on Giant Steps) etc, etc, blah get the picture, RIGHT?! So back to the point...Art Taylor beats & brushes into the souls of Miles, Nina Simone, Art Blakey, Ornette and the rest to get some beautiful insight on the way these people make the sound they make. It's the kind of book only a super music lover could dig but I swear it's worth it, if only to read Miles Davis being totally himself whilst discussing the parallels between boxing and drumming.
